Victoria has been breeding and raising bettas since she was 11 years old and brought home a pair of pet store veiltails. She joined the International Betta Congress as a junior member, but then got distracted by boys and stepped away for awhile. She joined the IBC again in 2000 and started the website BettySplendens.com, which became a well-known resource on the web for newbie-friendly betta information. She has also served on the Board of Directors of the Midwest Betta Club, hosted the BettaCast podcast, acted as a consultant for the new Betta show standards, raised several Best of Show winners, and wrote a book, The New Betta, which received a positive review by IBC founder and geneticist Dr. Gene Lucas in Freshwater and Marine Aquarium Magazine. She moved to Sweden in 2009 and is now hoping to concentrate on blacks (melanos and other types) and the "Koi" pattern in HM and HMPK.
